At first I liked this update but it quickly became tedious...

I upgraded the workstations to level 6 on the first day and haven't had anything to do since, as it takes ages to get sims to job level 6. The shifts have become repetitive and I feel far away from being able to unlock anything.

I've just read somewhere that you can only have 1 sim in each specialisation, which has actually annoyed me as I had decided on two sims that I wanted for each one. I'm not sure whether only the sims on that specialisation will be able to use certain workstations? I hope not. I would also like to be able to have more than two sims at the police station, particularly when more workstations have been unlocked.

Sorry to moan but just needed to vent a little! Whilst I appreciate a lot of work went into this update it seems like they have also made it quite limited when you're actually playing.

Also, does anyone know if the police coins will be needed in order to build or upgrade any of the other areas/workstations? Or are the police coins simply given as a means to trade for resources?

I'm wondering if trading them is ok, or if I should be saving them because they'll be needed for upgrading/building like the constructor coins.
Never mind...I found the information I wanted already. :D
Had the same questio, where did you find information?

At level 6, you have to build the specialty-appropriate workstation (interrogation room, squad car) in order to start earning the new resources (fingerprints, handcuffs).

Also at level 6, you have to start completing "badges" before leveling up to 7. Three badges are required and it looks like you can only earn one per shift (badge awarded at completion of shift) by performing specific tasks.

You can figure out what resources are required for the different work stations by clicking on them in the station. They also state which new resources they will unlock.

Level 6:
Special Agent: Interrogation Room. 800 Radios (walkie talkies?) and 140 Donuts. Unlocks Fingerprint resource.
Metro Police: Squad Car. 800 Flashlights and 140 donuts. Unlocks Handcuff resource.

Of course these new workstations can be upgraded like the previous ones. Then, because new tasks will use the new work stations, multiple police can work on tasks without tripping over each other.

Level 7:
Special Agent: Sketch Room. 1000 Radios, 160 Donuts, and 160 Fingerprints.
Metro Police: Jail Cells. 1000 Flashlights, 160 Donuts, and 160 Handcuffs.

Looks like you will need to level up one sim on each track, because the Level 8 workstations require both Handcuffs and Fingerprints.

Level 8:
Special Agent: Forensics Lab. 1250 Radios, 225 Handcuffs, and 320 Fingerprints. Unlocks Recorders resource.
Metro Police: K-9 Unit. 1250 Flashlights, 320 Handcuffs, and 225 Fingerprints. Unlocks Police Tape resource.

Level 9:
Special Agent: Division 51. 1750 Radios, 85 Recorders, 5 shields(?).
Metro Police: Chief's Office. 1750 Flashlights, 85 Police Tape, 5 shields(?).

Looks like you get shields by trading 10 Police Tape plus 10 Recorders.

That sounds like quite a lot of work...
How many levels are there for the workstations? Cause I really hope that it will be possible to finish those soon...

Has anyone else hit the badges at level six yet?

I'm just getting my sims to work for their third ones, which should do Something (seemingly) but I have No Idea what their significance will be. Will let you know if anything exciting happens

I think you need all 3 badges as part qualification for next work level.

I don't think this has already been mentioned .... When one sim is at specialization level and one is still a rookie
1. If the higher level one leaves work, the new "customers" presented to the rookie all have tasks he/she can do. Any partially fulfilled customers who have level 6+ task seem to hang around, which is annoying, but not a problem
2. New level 6+ resources (example handcuffs) that are unlocked are now presented by customers and can be earned by lower level rookies doing rookie tasks

my "rookies" have been on level 1 for 2 days? I have started following them on mission to see if the levels get upgraded but it seems stagnant.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Do I have to serve all 25 quota to see a difference?

Yes, the more tasks you do for customers the faster you level up
