Usually works but for this event, you had to wait for each day to get the tasks. And if a real life emergency or special plans made you miss the whole day, you were out of luck. There was no leeway at all.
After playing this game since the first year, I grew not to trust the developers to make the events easy or even attainable without spending LPs or SPs. So in between events I play the game and stock pile LPs and SPs for life interruptions or impossible events. I used between 30 and 40 on this event, a lot on the last day because I realized that I would not complete it in time if I didn't. With some grinding you can be ready for the next event. Sorry you didn't make it this time.
I think for this event it wasn't a matter of SKatF not having the LPs to complete the event. SKatF is a long time player and for sure has plenty of LPs/SPs stocked up in that case. The problem with these types of quests is that you could be on top of it the entire time but because of something else entirely happening in RL just not be able to get to the game in that last 24 hours to even be able to use LP to speed through the quest. It's beyond frustrating.

Exactly. If you can't check in on the final day of the event for any reason, you miss out, regardless of being caught up until then and having LP, SP, and Time Extensions stockpiled.

The advice about stockpiling SP and LP between event is good, however.

I agree the timing was tight on this quest, I used lp’s to skip through the whole last day just to make sure I won the chalet, not that I have an empty lot to put it on XD.

The open loft area in the Snow Chalet is actually an item that can be moved an used in another house. It’s called Landing Blonde and can be found in the Stairs tab after removing it from the chalet. To select it go to the second floor in build mode and tap anywhere in the open area.

I don't know if it has been answered yet, but how do you put the landing blonde back after you accidentally moved it to inventory. I ended up with a second floor in my chalet. I tried deleting the room and start from scratch but it won't let me add it back so I can have my loft back. Can someone please help?

Have a look at that topic: viewtopic.php?p=67378#p67288
There are descriptions on how to place the Landing.

I missed the final day of this event the first time around due to RL emergency (mom in hospital.) So unlocked all daily items but not the chalet. I was so happy they repeated it. They don't always do so with special events. But I was disappointed when I started it to find it did not pick up where I left off. I am having to do the entire event over. While doing the crafting event. My poor sims are crafting in a deluge!

How is a day defined here? 24 hours after you started the quest? Related to some server time?

When I went to bed at midnight last night, it told me to wait FOURTEEN hours for day two. If the new day starts at 2PM I only have about 8 hours to work on the event before I have to go to bed again. Every one of those days takes between 12 and 15 hours of tasks - in an 8 hour window I'm forced to spend LPs - no chance to try it with time management. Crazy!

Is anyone else re-doing this? I need help! I’m on day7 and supposed to be doing the ‘Persuade Grouch’ task but everytime I tap on the grouch nothing happens. It’s supposed to give me 3 actions based on make2’s video but it’s not working. I tried having another sim do it and even tried restarting the game, etc and still nothing’s happening. Pls help!!! Thank you.
