Cost of "repairing" items

I hate having to pay simoleans to fix items. Some are really expensive to fix, or break down really often.

I thought it would help me to have a discussion with tips about this.

So far, this is what I've come up with

Do things with people during an event whenever possible. Tap directly on them, not on sofa, tv, etc.

Cheap to buy is cheap to fix. I try to keep one of each inexpensive basics in my home (counter, bed, table, etc) to use when possible. One person I visited mentioned that's why her granny flat in the back yard has cheaper furniture. (Her main house had the expensive stuff.)

I haven't had to repair a plant yet.

I haven't had to repair a wall hung item yet (picture, certificate, mirror, towels, etc.)

Bookcases don't break down very often.

Hobby items (yoga mat, guitar, etc) haven't broken down yet.

I just had to repair a hedge yesterday. I used the hedge for the luxury event.

The bed from the wedding quest hasn't broken down and I use it all them time. And the Gold bathroom items still haven't broken down.

"Repair" a hedge, Good grief.
I had hoped the luxury furniture was "unbreakable" but as mentioned, it isn't. I just had to repair a loveseat.

I've seen a screenshot where the loveseat costs over 900 simoleons to fix. Crazy. The bubble bar can also break down. :(

So price to repair an item can vary?

Yes. At least from what I've seen in screenshots and experienced in my game. For example, the first time I repaired a hedge it was 4 simoleons but today it was just 1. It seems to vary between a set amount but I haven't cared much to take note of how much it costs each time.

A Luxuriously Elegant Mirror I have never used costs 54 simoleons to fix. :(

The luxury events at home, especially Leisurely Reflections are killing me with repair bills. Often there is no option that doesn't involve using stuff. If there is, for example an expensive couch on the lot and a cheaper one, the action bubble seems to go only to the expensive one. I've removed as many expensive things as I could and put in cheaper items, to save repair costs.

After the event, I have to go around fixing stuff.

Did you know that you can't put an item in inventory until you fix it? And some items don't show they're broken with smoke or insects, you find out when you tap to use or move them.

Same item, different repair price, as Mockingbird said.
