Thanks. Now I’m hooked. Don’t leave us hanging!

Ah yes - fun! Seems to me that's why we play the game - not for the stress of continuous live events, time limits and missed prizes.
That's what we need in the game - more fun! Perhaps they'll give us some for Christmas. We can hope. Let's all hang on in there!

Part 14 - the time warp

It was early but as soon as I could I rang Dover and arranged to meet her by the duck pond in the park. We hadn't talked much the day before when she brought me back from Blaize's house as she had said I looked ill.

We sat on a bench and chatted as Dover entertained Doral. I didn't quiz her about her missing friend and the abandoned baby but I told her about my nightmare.

"You're obviously still traumatised about your relationship" she said reassuringly but then added "funnily enough though I've heard talk of a wizard some say they've visited."

Well that didn't reassure me at all so I chatted about Blaize and her house. The craft room didn't mean a lot to her.

"Never been there" she said "I prefer aerobics" which again did nothing to reassure me.

So I told her about the baby stuff. "Yes" she said "Blaize and the commissioner did have a son. You've met him. He's the only elder in town - always fishing. In fact there he is now".

We both gazed at the very elderly man who was casting his line into the pond.

"But.." I stammered "that can't be possible..." and I felt everything spinning again.

"No more chat" said Dover "let's get you and baby back home."

Part 15 -another ending and beginning

I must have fallen into a deep and thankfully dreamless sleep because the next thing I remembered was the phone ringing.

It was Dover. "I'm letting you know before you hear it from anyone else" she said "are you sitting down?"

"What is it?" I said terror rising in my chest.

"It's Blaize - she's missing."

"What do you mean" I heard my voice shaking "how can she be missing?"

"Well Commissioner Ashman said she'd been doing a lot of cooking and had just reached some really high level and was being hailed as a chef and she was really pleased. He left her in the kitchen and when he went back she was just gone."

"What do you mean - just gone" I gasped.

"He said there were piles of dishes everywhere and she'd been cooking them cheese on toast but she'd gone and he's been driving around town all night in his patrol car looking for her".

I was having difficulty remembering to breathe but then she said brightly "but on a lighter note I've got a secret I want to share with you".

"What?" I said apprehensively.

"I'm almost positive I'm pregnant. Never thought it would happen but I can't stop throwing up in the toilet. So it's thank you morning sickness!"

So that's when I knew - it was only a matter of time....

Postscript to follow...

Postscript

But it seems I was wrong. Dover's baby was born. She named him Delmar and he was just as special as all the other special babies.

Then we braced ourselves for another disappearance but it never happened. The Simwichers exhausted from all the support they had given to so many pregnancies were overjoyed. You could see them all over town being funny and nice to each other, dancing and generally having fun.

Even though I was aware the town was far from normal, Simwich had worked some magic on me and I now enjoyed being there. The Simwichers just appeared to take on one day at a time, never worrying about any new event which might change their lives forever.

I still had so many questions. Was I special too? Is that why I was aware and would that save me? Would I ever find my aunt? And if I did find her in another town - would she be like that other version of me - me but not really me? Was that the warning in my dream?

But as Dover and I relaxed and enjoyed watching our toddlers in their playhouses she said
"Makes you wonder what sort of adults they'll turn into and will they have babies of their own?"

And for a second I remembered why I wrote this story...and once again I felt that old familiar feeling of unease return.

Ha! Ha! So funny! Season two? I had thought open ending because we all know who's to blame for us having to 'disappear' our sims. But it seems you might know my sims better than I do. Evil ex wants to tell his side of the story and Blaize knows I would never delete her as she was my first sim. Perhaps she's gone undercover?
Seriously though I did this as an antidote to having done the pregnancy thing four times - novelty's worn off. Has anyone got the patience to replace every sim in town?
I am going to wait and see what sort of adults they "turn into". A-ha! Season two and three!

Since there's been absolutely nothing entertaining going on in my game all over the Halloween period :( .... unless you count some sims getting stockings or a new house built and promptly demoed because nobody wanted to live somewhere uninspiring  .....I thought I might attempt a sequel to this story. My sim characters will be recognizable to anyone having read this one but I hope to make it stand alone too.

So another sci-fi inspired title "The Day of The Sniffids" coming to a screen near you - soon! I hope! Wish me luck :)
